Probably not. It may be a sign of other more serious problems.
I wouldn't buy from a person who sells a puppy in that condition in the first place. It is a sign of poor care or overbreeding.
When they aren't looking
When it is a DOG.
If you adopt a six-week old Boxer puppy with an undocked tail, there is no need to take it to the vet, it is to late to have the tail docked.
A Shorkie adults tail only gets cut when it is frightened. A puppy does not.
At a similar age to when you had your coccyx severed.
You really shouldn't "dock" or cut a dog's tail off. But as far as natural length goes, it depends on the breeds.

Mammals, and indeed most animals, do not develop more bones as they get older. A puppy has the exact same number of bones as it will have for its entire life.Dog breeds vary and tail length can make a difference, but you're looking at about 320ish on average.
