If you claim zero on your taxes will you still owe money when you file?

for best tax return claim 0 at work and when you file claim 1

How do you know whether to claim 0 1 or exempt for taxes?

If you claim 0 - you will be taxed the most. If you claim 1 (which is yourself) you will presumably be taxed the right amount and break even when tax time arrives. However, claiming exempt means that you are exempt from paying taxes and that would require you to be WELL below the poverty line, making little to no money at all. You would have to figure out what the amount of income is that allows one to be exempt, I don't know the figure. Many people suggest claiming 0 to be on the safe side and just get the money back from the government when you file taxes. Others say, claim 1 and don't allow the government to have a tax-free loan with your money! I would claim 1, see how much is withheld and look at a tax table to see what the amount of money is that should be withheld and determine if claiming 1 will get you there. If it won't, then you'll wind up owing and you don't want that, so then change it to 0 and you should be fine. As for exempt there are very few people who qualify for tax exempt status. Chances are, you're not one of them.

If you claim 1 on your taxes does that mean just yourself or one other person?

That depends on which form you are claiming it on. If you are talking about Form 1040, that means just yourself. If you are not eligible to claim yourself, then you are not eligible to claim anyone else either. If you are talking about Form W-4 (the withholding form that you give to your employer), stop and read the form more carefully. It does NOT ask you to fill in the number of people (dependents) you are claiming. It asks you to fill in the number of withholding allowances you are claiming. Most people have way too much tax taken out of their paychecks because they mistakenly believe that the number of withholding allowances they claim on their W-4 should be the same as the number of exemptions they claim on their 1040. Most people should claim MORE withholding allowances. To calculate the number of withholding allowances you should claim, either use the worksheet in the Form W-4 instructions or use the IRS withholding calculator here: http://www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0,,id=96196,00.html

Do you get more in your paycheck if you claim 0 or 1?

If you claim one (1) dependent (yourself) on your W4 form you will get more money in your paycheck, and less will be withheld as part of tax withholding. Some people end up having to pay money to the Government at tax time because not enough was withheld during the year. Those people sometimes choose to claim zero (0) dependents on their W4 so that more money will be withheld during the year and they will have less to pay at tax time.

How do you solve w2 plus 49 equals 0?

If by w2 you mean "w squared", then it cannot be done. BECAUSE w2 + 49 = 0 w2 +49 - 49 = 0 - 49 w2 = -49 w2 means a number multiplied by itself. Any number multplied by itself will result in a POSITIVE number. positive x positive = positive negative x negative = negatve

What is the equation of W2 plus W - 30 equals 0?

Does this mean w^2 + w -30 = 0 ? If so, w = 5 or -6

A triangle is 3cm wider than it tall the area is 27cm2find the width?

Area of triangle = 0.5 * width * height So 27 = 0.5 * w * (w-3) or 54 = w2 - 3w ie w2 - 3w - 54 = 0 w2 - 9w + 6w - 54 = 0 w(w - 9) + 6(w - 9) = 0 ie (w - 9)(w + 6) = 0 So w = 9 or w = -6 But since w is a width, it must be positive and so w = 9 cm.

What should you do if you don't get your w2 by February 15th?

First, contact your employer and find out if they can get you a copy. If that doesn't work, then refer to the IRS advice on the following page: http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=106470,00.html

Find the maximum area of a rectangle inscribed in a circle of radius 12 in?

The length and width of the rectangle (and thus it's area) will be defined by the circle. Specifically, the diagonal of that rectangle will always be equal to the diameter of the circle. To find the maximum area then, one can simply define the rectangle with that relationship, take the derivative of that function, and find out where that comes to a value of zero. The area will be peaked at that point: a = lw d2 = l2 + w2 ∴ l = (d2 - w2)1/2 Remember that the radius is 12, so the diameter is 24, and things can be simplified by plugging that into the equation at this point: l = (576 - w2)1/2 ∴ a = (576 - w2)1/2 w The next step is to take this equation for area, and find it's rate of change with respect to width: ∴ da/dw = (576 - w2)1/2 + 1/2 * (576 - w2)-1/2 * -2w * w ∴ da/dw = (576 - w2)1/2 - (576 - w2)-1/2 * w2 Now let that value equal zero: 0 = (576 - w2)1/2 - (576 - w2)-1/2 * w2 ∴ (576 - w2)1/2 = (576 - w2)-1/2 * w2 ∴ 576 - w2 = w2 ∴ w2 = 576 / 2 ∴ w2 = 288 ∴ w ≈ 16.97 And one can work out the corresponding height: d2 = l2 + w2 ∴ 242 = l2 + 288 ∴ l2 = 576 - 288 ∴ l2 = 288 ∴ l ≈ 16.97 Meaning that the optimum rectangle is a perfect square. To be completely thorough, it should be confirmed that the area found was a maximum and not a minimum. This can be done easily enough by taking a slightly lesser width and a slightly greater width, and seeing how their areas compare: a = (576 - w2)1/2 w Let w = 16 ∴ a = (576 - (16)2)1/2 * 16 ∴ a = 3201/2 * 16 ∴ a = 51/2 * 128 ∴ a ≈ 286.22 Let w = 18 a = (576 - 182)1/2 * 18 ∴ a = 2521/2 * 18 ∴ a = 71/2 * 108 ∴ a ≈ 285.74 Both of these values are less than the area surrounded by the square, so the square's area is indeed a maximum and not a minimum.

What is the proof that translating an NFA to DFA can be exponential?

Using the language: L_n = (0+1)^* 0 (0+1)^n (all the words that have the letter '0' n letters before their end) -There is a small NFA: this is easy - guess when there is going to be 0 and then count to n. -There is no small DFA: assume there is- then there are two n-sized vectors, u and v, such that they reach the same state q in the automaton. We'll observe the last place these two vectors differ - let that be the position m (m<=n). We'll create the words w1 and w2 that are: w1 = u 1^m and w2=v 1^m - assuming that u[m]=0 and v[m]=1, w1 is in L_n and w2 isn't. But the automaton accepts one iff it accepts the other - contradiction.

Can you claim 0 on your W-4 and then claim 1 or more dependents when you file for the year?

What is the width of the rectangle in centimeters if it has a diagonal that measures 10 centimeters and a length that is 2 centimeters longer than the width?

use pythagorean theorem where a2+b2=c2 (w+2)2+w2=102 2w2+4x+4=100 2w2+4x-96=0 divide by 2 w2 +2x-96=0 factor it (w-6)(w+8)0 you're answer is 6 centimeters because it can't be negative lol i posted this question and then figured it out :D
