Fresh grass clippings may cause choke as they are damp and will ball together in the horses mouth and esophagus when it swallows. If the mass makes it down into the stomach it may be hard for the stomach acid to break the ball of clippings up and it could pass into the intestines intact causing a blockage and colic, which may require surgery. Another factor is chemicals from the lawn mower possibly leaking out unnoticed and then poisoning the horse when it eats the grass clippings.
If you wish to feed grass to a horse, simply pull it up by hand and give it as a treat, or let the horse hand graze in areas where it is safe to do so.
If you are certain it doesn't contain any chemicals or other things that could possibly harm your horse I can't see why not.
Hay is only dried grass after all and horses get fed hay don't they?
But it would be much better for him/her if you let it out to eat the 'fresh stuff' that is growing in it's pasture!
NO! You cannot feed your horse freshly cut grass, because if they eat it, they will most likely get colic.
As long as your grass is not treated with chemicals and if you wash the grass clippings with hot water, it should be okay. Hope I helped!
Yes, but not as a main source of feed. They should have to still have access to grass, hay and possibly grain at all times, no matter if you're feeding lawn clippings to them or not.
Grass would be good
Purena flock maintanence - cracked corn - lettuce - wheat bread - grass clippings
Hay as well as horse feed and grass.
My horses are pastured and I don't feed them any grain if they are not active. However, the horses they I use for eight hour days I do feed a considerable amount of grain and hay as well as grass.
Horse's eat...Grass, Oats, Horse feed, Etc...
You Should Feed an Arabian Horse a sertain amount of grain. Also if you want to make your Arabian gain some weight, feed them Alfalfa hay, and to make them loose weight feed them grass hay.
It depends on the horse. Ask your vet to see what's right for your horse(s).
It really depends. If you give a horse grain in the winter then yes you should in the summer but just less then you do in winter.
Well...yes. If you just feed them grass all the time then they will get sick and very unhealthy. You should probably give a horse at least one bale of hay a day. Other than that, you should just feed them grass and stadagy or oats according to their diat.
You did something the ultimately wasted your time. If you planted a field of grass, because you wanted to feed your horse, but your horse died, then you would have wasted your time with the grass. Because the horse is dead, you will have no need for the grass.
