Probably you should ask yourself if specs are more important? Is storage more important? As devices are moving more and more into the cloud, and the typical Nexus 7 is wifi only, getting the newer, better spec'ed 16 GB Nexus 7 would be the better option. However, if you value storing files such as music or videos more offline, then the original Nexus 7, which still has decent specs to hold its own, is another option.
