Rinse it of with fresh water.
It's up to you, man.
Do not use butter to put out a fire, any fire, ever. Butter will add fuel to any fire. If you are near butter, you should be near salt. Salt will put out a small fire.
Depends on what you're salting. Is it snow that you are salting or are you just putting salt on the ground just for fun. Don't put to much salt down because you might dehydrate what ever is on the ground like grass and don't put too little that it is not effective to the purpose of that you are using the salt for.
Salt typically lowers the freezing point of water, but your water line should be buried deep enough that it never freezes regardless of what happens on the surface above it.

If you own a salt pool and you need to raise the salt level, go buy NON-IODIZED salt and add the appropriate amount (as determined by your particular salt-chlorinator's owners' manual) to get the level to where it needs to be. The salt addition process is nothing fancy; cut the corner of the bag with a box cutter and pour in the pool then sweep any that is resting on the bottom to get it to dissolve. Note: Adding salt is not shocking your pool, rather it is loading the gun that can be used to superchlorinate or "Shock" your water.
