Lesser Daemons are 2 less points than a Chaos Marine, and have roughly the same stats with the exception of a 5+ invunerable save. They are best used to tilt the balance in combats; they should not be deployed without support. They are one of the few units which can charge after deepstriking, and can be used to ruin opponent's plans- however they have to be used correctly to be worth it.
Greater Daemons are another story. At 4 wounds, Toughness 6 and a 4+ invunerable they can almost always get their points back and smash enemy units with ease. They enter play by possesing a model in your army. It's suggested that Greater Daemons are used more regularly than Lesser Daemons due to the fact that their stat allows them to deal with many varying units.
No. You can however use lesser demons and demon princes in a Chaos Space Marine Army.

AnswerUnlike the space marines, the chaos use not chapters but legions. The most popular legions tend to be the black legion, the iron warriors, the emperor's children, the red corsairs, thousand sons and many others. The codex of the smurfs or chaos will tell you in more detail
In the 9th edition of Warhammer 40k, Chaos Daemons have seen changes to their rules and abilities. Some key updates include changes to summoning mechanics, new stratagems, and adjustments to unit stats. These alterations impact gameplay by requiring players to adapt their strategies to make the most of these changes. For example, players may need to reconsider their summoning tactics and utilize new stratagems to maximize the effectiveness of their Daemon units on the tabletop.
It all depends on your playing style
