since i pulled my trapezius, a neck muscle, my mom gave me pain killers (like Advil or Tylenol) and then she gave me a hot pack to put around my neck. and finally, she put some icy hot gel on my neck also. your neck will be hurting for a couple of days but then it should stop hurting. ~hope this helps :P
