Morphine is an opiate pain killer and a natural product, occurring directly from the Opium Poppy plant. Its used in processes to make other narcotic opioids like Heroin, oxymorphone, and hydromorpone. It is the classic opiate to which all others are judged. Its pretty strong, but has different bioavailability depending on your route of admin. If you take oral morphine, it makes it about as potent as hydrocodone mg for mg, which is still pretty good considering you can get morphine sulfate pills with high amounts such as 60, 90, 120, and 200 mg each.
Soma is a centrally-acting skeletal muscle relaxer. It is pretty potent, and taken in high doses lowers your seizure threshold and has been known to make people shake and vibrate do to this characteristic. Taken in moderate doses, it really relaxes you and helps with muscle pain and spasms. It also prescribed with opiates to potentiate them (make the effects of the opiates stronger). They will make you loopy and sedated if not used to them.
