It really depends on which Pokemon you prefer, Anorith or Lileep. Anorith is the Claw Fossil, whilst Lileep is the Root Fossil. They evolve into Armaldo and Cradily respectively, each at Lv 40.
To help you make up your mind, I'll list the differences between the two evolved Pokemon.
Armaldo is an offensive Pokemon with very high Attack and great Defence. However, it's as slow as dirt and is rather weak on the Special side. It also doesn't learn a great deal of good Level-up moves, although it makes up for it with the offensive TMs it can learn. It's a Rock/Bug type.
Cradily is a defensive Pokemon with good Defence and Sp Defence (although Armaldo's Defence is higher) and decent Attacking stats, considering that it's main function is as a wall. Is also as slow as dirt, but due to its function a wall so it doesn't matter as much. Has a good defensive movepool but a bad attacking movepool, especially without TMs or tutors (the highest BP move it learns that doesn't charge is AncientPower, a measly 60). It's a Rock/Grass type.
Really, the choice depends on which Pokemon better fits your team. You can get the other fossil after the Elite Four anyway at the Desert Underpass; the entrance of which can be found in the back of the Ruin Maniac's house on Route 114.
It's actually pretty simple to get the Fossil on Pokémon Emerald. First you go to Fallarbor Town, then go all the way to the edge of the town (Route 114). Then, you go to the Fossil Maniac's house. Then go all the way back to the tunnel he dug. The tunnel should be called Desert Underpass. Once you get in, walk as far as possible to the right, and eventually you will see a fossil, and it will be the Fossil you didn't choose in Mirage Tower! You definetely need the National Pokédex to unlock the tunnel!
you take the fossil to rustboro city and take it to the building where you got the POKENAV talk to the guy on the 2nd floor in the bottom right hand corner, give him the fossil and go talk to Mr.Stone. After that go to the same guy yougave the fossil to and he will give you a ancient pokemon. claw fossil:anorith root fossil:lileep
Armaldo and Cradilly.
Pick a fossil from the Mirage Tower. It doesn't matter which, whichever one you fancy. Afterwards. there are 2 fossils actually. although, u can only get one. in the desert, there is something called the mirage tower. it is sometimes there, and sometimes not. if u go to the desert, always bring the mach bike, you will need it to get up to the top. there are floor panels that crack if u walk on them. go to the top, and if u choose one fossil, the other wil fall, so save before u grab it. and u can always go back. one is called the root fossil, and it gives a plant pokemon(the name of which has slipped my mind) and the other s the claw fossil. i reccomend the claw fossill, as it is more powerful. go to the guy in the inventing place i that one city where u got a pokenav, and he will regenerate it for u.
In the desert and in mirage tower.
In the Mirage Tower nefore you get the Fossil
get the root fossil in the mirage building in the desert
The mirage Pokemon is Wynaut.
Ditto is found in mirage tower you can make the tower appear after talking to the fossil maniac.
In Pokemon Emerald, both the Root and Claw fossils can be obtained. One may be selected at Mirage Tower and the other will be found at the end of the Desert Underpass.
The Helix Fossil, as well as the Dome Fossil, do not appear in Pokemon Emerald, Ruby, or Sapphire. The only two fossils obtainable in Emerald are the Root and Claw Fossil, which can be found in the desert in Route 111 (for Emerald, they are at the top of the Mirage Tower which appears and disappears frequently in the Desert), and you can only pick one of the two.
mirage island mirage island mirage island mirage island
The first fossil appears at the desert the second appears in mirage tower.
mirage tower only appears in pokemon emerald.
Yes, but it could come back again. It will disappear permanently if you take a fossil.
in Pokemon emerald is there another way to get the skill tag than on mirage island
