TIP Supervisors are your mentors in the program. In SPA, there are no specialist Supervisors to give you assistance other than the coordinator. TIP tends to be a little bit quicker than SPA, however because of this, TIP is also stricter. In TIP you are expected to perform your tasks to a Supervisor standard, while in SPA you are only expected to perform a contributor standard. If you did not perform to a Supervisor standard in TIP, you could be asked to re-do the task. In SPA there are no set task requirements. You are expected to perform like a Supervisor. SPA offers you a 80% chance of being invited onto the Supervisor team when you have reached a set criteria. SPA is softer and not as strict but there is less support. You are expected to perform like a contributor. My personal advice, if you are interested in becoming a Supervisor here, is to try them both out.

No. They are two completely different programs run by different people. The Initiates Program is run by WikiAnswers and a team of TIP Supervisors. While the Special Project Assistants is run by a volunteer Senior Supervisor. Missions given by TIP cannot be completed for SPA. Likewise, missions given by SPA cannot be completed for TIP.
