Yes! Down syndrome is not a genetic disease. ANYBODY can be born with Down
Syndrome, even if 100 or 0 people in their family have it.
I've always heard that you should not get an amniocentesis in this case. There is a chance it could damage the baby. I've had 3 children and I wouldn't do it unless there was a history of something serious.
no, i would not risk an amnio, the odds are your baby is fine.
the pregnant women
Prenatal diagnosis is possible by DNA testing of fetal tissue drawn by amniocentesis or chorionic villus sampling (CVS). Fetuses should be tested if the mother is a carrier of a change (mutation) in her HPRT gene.
Down syndrome
no you should not tell your husbands mom about his health
Chorionic villus sampling, amniocentesis and bone marrow procedures are done under a physician's supervision. The person is asked to rest after the procedure and is watched for weakness and signs of bleeding.
While it is possible it's not highly recommended. Amniocentesis is a very risky procedure and should only be done if the benefit far out weighs the risk to the baby and to the mother.
