I take from your question that someone's telling you gas expands therefore it's best to fuel up at night in summer. Well it's not going to save you but about a dime if you do that. It's not worth worrying about.

I am not sure if you have sufficient information. If you fill your tank, you need to see how far it gets you before you need to refill again. Divide the number of gallons you fill in your tank by the distance, to get average gallons / mile. Then multiply that by the cost of fuel per gallon, to get dollars / mile.
