tell tale sign of passlock problem, is your car wont start and the anti-theft light flashes- the temp fix is to let the car sit on accessory for 15 mins the anti-theft light will go out and you should be able to start your car- i lived w/ it for almost a yr before the light would just always stay on- i never got a firm answer on what the light being on all the time means other than there is a problem- some people told me i had to get it fix right away because once it stays on it has the potential to not start at all- others said the light being on was fine that it actually means that the passlock system is malfunctioning and is disabled. i let the light stay on solid for a week, before i went to the dealer which replaced the lock cylinder and ignition switch i believe, and it was a $500 job,
it might be the passlock

The thing that causes the PASSLOCK to activate is the chip, if you will. If the chip is bad, ar is unrecognizable to the system, the PASSLOCK will activate. Take it to a dealer asap. You can bypass the passlock by accessing the ignition, and cutting the yellow wire of a small 3 piece wire set that's on top of the ignition. cut the yellow small wire from ign. switch in the column up by the switch. this is the passlock wire.
