That depends on your definition of bad:

  • If you mean is the 14 year-old easily influenced by violence in a game, then the answer is yes as Skyrim contains a lot of gratuitous violence.
  • If the 14 year-old is easily frightened by spooks (sudden attacks) of fierce creatures, very loud dragons, the sight of countless graphically demeaning undead running at you with weapons, is afraid of dark places or doesn't take the sight of blood well, then yes with great conviction.
  • If the 14 year-old has morality issues based on social standards, then possibly as the game is capable of accepting nondescript antisocial actions.
  • If the 14 year-old understands the difference between real life and that of a fantasy world where anything is possible and nothing is real, then no.

I have been playing many PC RPG games for over 30 years and will do so until I die. Since my children were old enough to walk, they've been watching me play games that contain Horror and violence that were borderline banned in the country. Having never shielded them from the horrors of the real world and those in games has taught them there is a difference, though they play some of the nastiest games I've ever seen, they have grown to adult and teen with little to no influence from any game in theirs or anybody's life.
