The XG smart lock unit is located beside and below the central heater controls in the dashboard. Remove the heater knobs and switches, also the plastic facia, radio and ashtray. Behind them is a U shaped mount bracket which you must remove too (tis a simple operation). Now, you need to remove the glove box compartment also.
Once done, there's a compartment between where the ashtray was and the lower passenger side glove box (nearest the centre console btw) ...get a torch and look inside this as there's a smallish hole (inch by and inch and roundish) directly in the front of this compartment which hides within it the smartlock module.
Now the bad part... they were fitted without access to remove them. So simply cut away a hole it will fit through (5 inches long and 4 inches wide) on the astray side and beside where the module is positioned within. Once done, you'll see two screw plugs fitted with screws to maintain the mount onto which the SL module is riveted. Use a pair of long nosed plier and simply wind the tips of the screws in the loosening direction... remember, you're working backwards as the screw heads are from the inside to the outside of the dash front. They will both remove to a point where you can simply and easily pop the screw plugs too and out comes the whole unit, brackets and all!
You'll need to giggle it at angles to get it through the hole.
It is actually quite a simple process to disable the smartphone function on Ford Falcon vehicles. To do so, simply disable it from the dashboard option.

how to replace intake manifold for 1994 ford falcon ED
Smartlock is the trademark name for the electronic immobilisation/keyless entry system fitted to Ford Falcon models from the EBII to the AUI! What this system is is a remote keyless entry system and electronic engine immobilisation system factory fitted in those models between the two mentioned which uses a three digit rolling code in the ECU and the embedded code in the tip of the key - if two of the three digits match, the engine will start! If not, no start!
In most cases, the Ford dealer/workshop are pretty good at letting you take a look at the books. Just be careful not to think too much about the smartlock system, as this can get very confusing. You are better off going and asking where to find the cable, and what colours you are looking for. Hope this helps as it worked for me.
My 1994 ed xr8 was fitted with cruise control from the factory.

Could be a smart lock issue. Check interior light and make sure it is working, check fuse as well.... smartlock shuts off fuel and spark. Then check coil ( very hard to get to) if is smart lock go onto EBAY and buy a smartlock bypass module and get rid of the prolem for ever.... that's what i did no problems since.
