fuel pump probably, common problem among later model impalas
I'm told this is a common problem that Chevrolet is aware of. Contact your local dealer. They should be able to replace the ignition switch and charge it back to Chevrolet as a warranty repair.
Transmission Problem Battery Problem Ignition Problem
You are having a problem with your passlock II security system. You have to buy a new ignition mechanism
"Knock", sometimes called "ping" is mostly caused by pre-ignition, a function of improperly set timing. Since the advent of computer-controlled ignition, this once-common problem has greatly diminished. When it happens in modern cars, it can be caused by a buildup of carbon in the cylinder heads, which is usually traced to cheap, bargain-brand (non-labeled) gas. The last car I owned that developed a problem with pre-ignition was a 1980 Chevrolet Chevette, and that was only after it passed 85,000 miles.
If your battery is fully charged and the connections are clean and tight, the problem is probably that the contacts in the switch are corroded or worn, meaning your ignition switch will have to be replaced.
Possibly related to an ignition switch problem.
there are many things that can cause this problem. bad spark plugs / wires bad alternator ignition problems loose or corroded battery conection incorrect timing
check/replace spark plugs and wires
Common problem with this engine is the ignition coils.
Could be the starter or ignition switch...does the car crank/turn over when you turn the key? If you just turn the key and it 'clicks' it might be the ignition switch. I've had this problem before, and it ended up being the alternator. HOpe this helps!
I am having the same problem with my intrigue, it might be 2 things: the crank sensor is bad and needs changing, or the ignition module needs changing. im not %100 that this is the problem but I am currently trying to get mine fixed and that's what I have been told it might be.
A lot of things can cuse it. One is the ignition module. Have it checked out. GoodluckJoe I recently had the same problem,I changed the ignition module, after approx. 165 miles;same thing. My mech. put a computer scanner on it and found the problem to the MAP sensor. So far, no more problem. ignition module was $80.00 MAP sensor was $30.00
