the best way to get to all of the plugs is from under the car that is the only way I was able to do it and my mechanic told me the same.
From EXPERIENCE , changing spark plugs on a 1990 thunderbird super coupe is an experience you will not forget anytime soon. There is only one way that the plugs can be removed and reinstalled, and that is by removeing - (driverside)- alum ducts from pre cooler, top duct comes all the way out, bottom will need to be moved out of the way, while these are out of the way tighten valve cover bolts, they usuallly leak oil, you can not replace gasket at this time, the bottom duct for pre cooler is in the way. To change gaskets wait until you need to change Power Steering pump or hoses because motor will then have to be lowered and thats when lower duct can be moved further out of the way. Thats reality for this super coupe, takes alot to do a little-
Passenger side- remove outer supertine belt, remove a\c compressor, heater hose mount bolted to block, unplug wire loom to everything on that side in order to move loom, then you can access spark plugs, you must be very agile with your hands as there is no room, you will drop socket, spark plug several times so be prepaired. There is no way to remove spark plugs from under side of car, can't be done. Before you reinstall the plugs put some type oil on threads to make it easy to install plugs back into block, if you don't its much harder to thread back in. To recap - It aint easy- who ever engineered this crap
is a peace of crap, Just my opinion.
The recommended spark plug, for a 1984. Thunderbird 302, V8 engine, is a champion spark plug. The spark plugs can be purchased at most auto-parts stores.
