A commited relationship usually starts with atraction, you need to physically and mentally atracted to your partner so get to know them before you make any comitments. Next you will most probably declare that you are together, make sure you and him/her both agree so on eor the other doesnt feel pressured in to being with you . After this you will most probably start to 'really' get to know each other for example exploring each others bodys ect. Then who knows.. you could get married , have children, move in together . You need to let the future tell you what the next stage is.

heres some main stages I got from lovetoknow.com, ! The Main Five Stages in a RelationshipHow long you stay in one stage depends on the couple. Some couples never advance to the later stages because of incompatibility or emotional immaturity. Stage One: Attraction and RomanceAll couples experience this phase. It occurs when you are beginning to get to know each other. It might also be called the fantasy phase because your partner can seem perfect during this time. How long this phase lasts varies, but it can be anywhere from a few months to a few years.

In this stage, you are focusing on your similarities. You are likely spending a lot of time together. You are in love, after all, and you can't imagine being apart from your lover. Conflict is not only avoided in this stage but seems like it will never happen at all.

This stage is a lot of fun but is not sustainable. People who are constantly changing partners are often trying to remain in this stage.

Stage Two: Reality Sets InThis stage often will begin to creep in slowly during your relationship, but will sometimes happen all at once. In this phase, you now start to see flaws in your partner or behaviors you just don't like. It's not that you are no longer in love, but your partner doesn't seem as great as he or she was in stage one.

Biology is fighting against you as well. The romance stage features many endorphins running through your body that gives you that "high" sensation. Your body can't keep this up forever, and so in this stage your elation begins to level off. You might even wonder if you are still in love.

Stage Three: DisappointmentWhat began as reality setting in during stage two often turns to disappointment in stage three. The problem here is that as a couple you believe that arguments are bad but you are angry at each other anyway. Some of the anger can be over trivial things such as small differences between you. Since you don't realize that conflict can be healthy, you wonder if this relationship is doomed. In fact, you likely have thoughts of breaking up or getting divorced.

Without strong communication, trust and the ability to work as a team, couples are unlikely to advance past this stage.

Stage Four: StabilityIf a couple can navigate through the unstable waters of stage three, they will find that stage four offers much rest and enjoyment. As a couple, you now have history together and you have been able to work through some differences. The fantasy of stage one is completely gone, but you have accepted this. Yes, you have differences and you sometimes fight, but you love your partner; feel connected to him or her, and you trust that you can work through any future conflicts.

You may, however, feel a little bored at times as the chase is definitely over. You may also miss the stage one feelings and wonder if those feelings can be found in someone else.

Stage Five: CommitmentFew couples make it this far, even couples who are married. In this stage, you are truly a team. You have chosen to be with your partner, flaws and all. You no longer miss the romance stage because that would mean being with a new person and you don't want that. You have a vision for the future together as a couple. If dating, this is the stage where you can get married and feel comfortable with that decision. It is a stage of mature and sustainable love. ConclusionKnowing about the five stages in a relationship can help you understand your feelings about your partner and your relationship. Know that it is natural to lose those early romantic feelings but that something much deeper awaits you in a later stage. To advance through the stages requires communication and hard work. It is worth the effort when you find the right person to share the journey.

Although, there is no 'hard and fast' rule with going about a relationship, this is because over time, relationships have come to be by different methods. On a broader note however, I would state a simplified sequence of steps which could be followed if intimate relationship is desired with a member of the opposite sex.

1. Observe him/her: within the environment which you both operate, where you noticed him/her in the first place, try and take more notice. If you do this appropriately you may find enough reason to back out in time, saving yourself all the hassels

2. Seek Friendship: look for a way to become friends. People who have successful relationships are actually good friends even if the relationship was subtracted from them

3. Encourage dialogue: not everything would be know by just observation. If you have watched the film 'Vantage Point' you would understand that some things we see are not actually what they seem to be. Ask questions about actions you are unclear of

4. Make your intentions known: many people live in the fantasy of a non-existent relationship. The partner is busy enjoying a platonic friendship while they are drunk with obsession. Any relationship not founded on verbal agreement is non-existent, point-blank. If you like, have sex 10 times a day, that doesnt make your relationship start or end, it all gets established by word of mouth.

I say this because I have seen a lot of people mostly women entrapped by their own illusion, into believing that they are in a relationship, and when the man announces that he is getting married to another lady, they almost commit suicide.

5. Wait for an answer from the other party, an affirmative one is what you expect in most cases, but may not come, if it doesnt, please pick up your pieces and start all over, they is someone out there madly in love with you, just that you are not aware yet.

I hope this helps

The first step with any relationship regardless of age, is to establish a friendship. Once you have established a friendship you should work on trust. I understand the media and the real world may instill in the public's mind (especially kids) that having a girlfriend/boyfriend is the norm but it isn't. As a kid you should focus on your future. Your future is College, and getting a well paying job. Having friendships with boys/girls is great and i am not condemning it, but your intentions should be acknowledge before you start a relationship. The best advice that i can give to you is to focus more on volunteering, taking advanced placement courses, and looking for colleges. Doing this will give you the upper hand and that is whats important. Women and men will dwell on this earth forever and you have forever to find a boyfriend/girlfriend. But since you are looking to be in a relationship, there are two important things to do first, establish a friendship and establish trust. And with these two foundations you are on your way to a happy relationship.

Having any relationship requires constant effort by both parties. There aren't "steps" per se, it's an ever ongoing never ending process that results in greater love and respect for each other.

What are the three major stages of a relationship between a man and a woman?

Whatever made you think that there are three major stages in a relationship between man and woman is not aware that the progress in such a relationship is dependent on too many variables to be divided into stages. But generally speaking, counselors are aware that the best first approach to a relationship is friendship. For friendships imply a concurrance of interests which is the essential ingrediant to bonding. Mutuality and intimacy, the bonding stage, when partners have found their common interests and feel that they can sustain their commonality, usually leads to marriage or other bonding situations. Read more about these stages in Meyer's "Marriages, Shack-ups and Other Disasters."
