If it has a pointer device and window on top of the steering wheel columm that has the letters P-R-D-2-1 or such it will have an automatic transmission
You have a problem with the ignition in the steering columm, or there is a problem with the anti dieseler switch in the engine compartment. Depending the year of the automobile.
It's the turn signal, windshield washer stalk in the steering columm, all one piece and the whole thing is called the MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH.
Up under the dash on the driver's side to the left of the steering columm. Black plastic clip holds it in a sleeve type of thing and I think it's a 10mm bolt that holds the wiring to it. Hope this helpls.
Not a fun job. If your looking to replace the heater core it requires removal of the entire dash and steering columm. I would suggest purchasing a shop manual for that vehicle to help you step by step thru the job.
I remove the left front tire and go thru the wheel well opening with a 3/8" drive spark plug socket and a long "wobble" extension. There is a flat spot on the steering columm, so if you turn the wheel to line that flat spot up, it helps.
