I will be honest when i say that i cannot think of an advantage to windows. The OS is slow on startup, is ugly, overpriced and has the worst firewall and anti-viral software known to man.
On the other hand Mac is also overpriced. But there are a lot of pros to mac. For example the user interface is excellent, visually mac is the best on the market and also software developers can strive on the SDK's available through mac OS.
Personally though if you are looking to buy Linux is the way forward. As it is open source everything is free and the thousands of Linux developers are constantly working to give better software and an overall better environment.
Between Mac and PC if you have the money go for a Mac although if you are planning to use your Mac or PC with work check the compatibility before hand
