The biggest symptoms of undiagnosed Diabetes are extreme thirst, dehydration, unexplained weight loss, frequent urination, and a "fruity" smell on your breath. You may also experience blurry vision, vomiting, and a loss of appetite. The "fruity" smell of breath is due to ketones being released in the body from fat being used rapidly. When I was diagnosed, I was drinking upwards of 6 gallons of fluids per day! My thirst was insatiable. I would literally drink and urinate all day and night. Even though I was drinking that much fluid, I was extremely dehydrated. I also went from weighing about 185 pounds to 112 pounds in a matter of a couple months. I became legally blind due to my dehydration... My body was stealing water from wherever it could find it, including the fluid in my eyes.
If you feel that you are having any of these symptoms, DO NOT HESITATE to go to a physician and have your blood sugar and hemoglobin A1C checked. A doctor will be able to tell if you have this disease or not.
