Just because you are not on the birth certificate does not mean you are not the father - if the woman is not married then most often no one is listed on the birth certificate as the father. If the woman is married then most often her husband is automatically listed as the father (even if he is not). You have to petition to have this changed. These things are not hard but require paper work, the are also safe guards so woman can not just randomly assume who the father is. I would strongly urge you to follow the child support agency's order as they can issue arrest warrents. If the child is not yours - well then you had the inside of your cheek swabbed for nothing - if he/she is yours I would strongly advise you to seek a legal representitive. If you are not interested in parenting to the child (i.e. paying support) you may be able to sign your parental rights away (this should not be done lightly). I will warn you though at least in our state the child support agency is very sexist and advocate more for mothers then fathers - my husbands kid lives full time with us and her mother is a complete dead beat it took them 7 years of missed payments and back support before they arrrested her if it had been the other way around it would have 6 monthes. I will also tell you that the interest on back support will break you (mom owes more in interest then in support) so do your best to keep up payments - i.e. seek legal help.
