What was the important political leader of ancient Rome?

Over the long period of existence, ancient Rome had many important political leaders. It's a subjective question and based on what I have read about ancient Rome, I believe that Augustus Caesar was the most important political leader in ancient Rome's history. The reasons for my choice of Augustus are many fold. Foremost in my mind is this; After the Civil War with Mark Antony & Cleopatra, Octavian then known as, was the supreme leader of ancient Rome. He brought a great degree of stability to Rome compared to previous times. Augustus had flaws of course but I rank him as the most important leader.

What was the most famous temple in Rome?

You question calls for an opinion and there may be different answers to it. In my opinion, the most important monument in Rome today is the Colosseum, which is the symbol of the city of Rome. However others might say that Trajan's column is most important, or the Arch of Titus. To the ancient Romans though, the most important "monument" was the temple of Jupiter on the Capitoline hill. You question calls for an opinion and there may be different answers to it. What are the many reasons historains give for the fall of the roman empire?

It seems that every historian has his/her own theory as to why the Roman empire fell. You can get reasons such as a weakened army, lack of leadership, economic factors and even lead poisoning for the fall and they would all be correct. Most agree that there was no one factor that caused the fall of Rome, but a combination of external and internal pressures that caused the fall.It seems that every historian has his/her own theory as to why the Roman empire fell.
