Blacks could vote.
Amendment 15
On December 18, 1865, it was ratified as an amendment to the Constitution.
The 15th
14th amandent was the rights that said all races has the right to be US citizen based on some certain years living in the country. 15th amandent said every US citizen has the right to vote, No matter what race you are.
The 15th Amendment (XV) to the Constitution guaranteed the right to vote not be denied to anyone based on "race, color, or previous condition of servitude." It was ratified in 1870, and was the last of the three so-called "Civil War Amendments", following the 14th (XIV) in 1868 and the 13th (XIII) in late 1865 (after the war was over).
The Equal Rights Amendment was proposed in 1972. It said that equal rights under any federal, state, or local law could not be denied because of gender. To become part of the U.S. Constitution, the amendment had to be ratified by 38 states - that is, approved by a statewide vote - but only 35 states ratified it before the deadline, so the amendment did not become law.
The 14th amendment says that if you are born in the US you are a citizen. Beforethis amendment slaves born in the US were not citizens. Slavery was allowed by the original US Constitution but was not part of any amendment. Also, children born in the United States to citizens of other countries would not automatically be US citizens before this amendment was ratified.
They created very stringent voter registration standards. They also imposed poll taxes that made voting too expensive for blacks. They also had literacy tests, which made it difficult for blacks to vote, as most of them were freed slaves who had little to no education.
No, because after the Civil War had ended, another event started. That event was called Reconstruction. There were many things that had happened during this. For example, the 13th, 1414, and 15th Amendments were add to the Constitution. The 13th Amendment said that there shall be no slavery in the U.S. anymore. The 14th Amendment said that everyone that is born in the U.S. is a citizen and should be treated equal to everyone else. And lastly, the 15th Amendment said that anyone could vote or hold public office. And adding to that, slaves were no longer slaves, as many years passed by many other events occurring during Reconstruction.
Some things...the 15th amendment was said that no citizen's vote could be taken away because of his race or color or because he was once a slave. the 19th amendment stated that all women in the US were allowed to vote. The 22nd amendment limited a presidency of a single person to only 2 terms of office (8 years). The 26th amendment changed the voting age from 21 to 18+.
The Eleventh Amendment to the United States Constitution prohibits citizens from suing a state in federal court without the state's consent. This amendment was ratified in response to a Supreme Court case that allowed private individuals to sue states in federal court.
The only constitutional amendment that has been repealed is the 18th amendment. The 18th amendment was ratified on January 16, 1919 and established the prohibition of alcohol, making the production, transport and sale of alcohol illegal. This amendment was repealed by the 21st amendment on December 5, 1933.
