The Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 restricted immigration from China. It was enacted under President Chester A. Arthur. The use of Chinese labor for the California Gold Rush and the Transcontinental Railroad prompted an influx from 1848 to 1870, depressing unskilled labor wages, especially in California. The national act followed several restrictive laws in California and other western states, and general animosity toward Asians. The act was renewed in 1892, made permanent in 1902, and not repealed until 1943.

Yes, it is known as sinophobia. In America, there is the infamous Yellow Peril stereotype and Asian Exclusion act, preventing Asians from immigrating to America (Not white Europeans or filipinos). In many communities, the Chinese due to hardworking nature are able to carve a significant portion of the local economy for themselves. They also banded together in communities known as Chinatowns. Significant discriminatory acts include the May incident in Indonesia and anti-chinese legislation. Nowadays, discrimination occurs because they think that the Chinese cannot be integrated into their society or outcompete them (Jealousy plays a big part). China is also rising, stereotypes of the Chinese people also pay a huge part in discrimination against them.
