It was passed by LBJ in 1964, and it helped stop the descrimination towards african americans and other minorities. this is a huge step for the african americans because they now have a little bit more rights/equality, but thats not what the public wanted. people did not want to be equal with a black man at the time. even though tooday there are still people like that, it is very unlikely for them to do anything about it.
