The Lord's Supper is important to Christians primarily because it is the one and only memorial that Christ Himself instituted. 1 Corinthians 11:24, 25 - and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me." In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me." So yes, it is a symbol of unity with Christ, and yes, it also should remind the Christian to forgive their enemies: 1 Corinthians 11:28, 29 - But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. But no, it is not (because it was never intended to be) a "good way to feed the poor and hungry." The Lord's Supper is a memorial; it is separate and apart from any benevolent efforts on the part of a church.
Because it reminds them that Jesus died on the cross to forgive Christians (like me) of our sins
It is the Christians place of worship, where you can go to forgive your sins and pray to God.
Yes Jesus always taught to forgive your enemies. But as we have only one life , it is not possible to repent after death and get away for your wrong doings and sinning.
As Christians we are taught to forgive, but to a point. We can forgive the person, but depending on the actions of that person Christians have the right to move on with their own life and are not expected to be treated any less than they would treat someone. Christians need to know when it's the right time to give a person a second chance or when to realize the person has a nasty character or could be dangerous and it's time to move on. The reason forgiveness is so important is 'if you don't forgive that person then they continue to control your life' because you resent them or they interfere with your every day life. Give respect and kindness, but expect it back! Even Christians aren't meant to be societies punching bags.
Because one of the main teachings of Jesus was to show compassion and forgive your enemies.
Because he gave his life to save all who believe and take away their sins. As well as teaching us right from from wrong and to love everyone around us and to forgive who have done wrong.
No, this quote is often misattributed to Wilde. He did say, "Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much," but the original saying is by Oscar Levant.
i think it means Forget/Forgive All Your Enemies
Fans are my everything forgive all my enemies
Oscar Wilde
Because it's what Jesus taught, and also was told in god's prayer 'give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses and we forgive those who trespass against us'
I've researched this question many times and almost 9/10 times i came across articles by professionals who said JFK did not actually say this because there is no known date of the quote
