The US was still a new nation. Other than the Indian Wars, the War of 1812 was the US's first war. They did not have a strong Navy and they were tight on money. The New Englanders didn't want to have the war because they didn't want to have more land belonging to the US. They thought that through the war we would gain land and through having all that extra land they would lose power

Except, you know...the revolutionary war which came before the war of 1812. War of 1812 is also sometimes called the SECOND war for independence. The reasons of navy and money are correct tho.

Hay,OK here's the answer. The organizations were poor and we weren't ready for conflict. The millia didn't want to fight anymore , well basically they gave up. some thought that they were distracted by Napoleon but the American sailors were capable to lead or fight in the war of 1812. I hope this answers your question. IF NOT THEN TYPE IN THE WAR OF 1812 ON Google.
