He wanted to please everyone and couldn't say no to people. His father said it was a good thing that he was not a girl.
Harding was one of the most corrupt people to ever hold the office of President. He sold judgeships and diplomatic posts to the highest bidder. He turned a blind eye when members of his cabinet and undersecretaries of various departments made millions by scalping leases to America's strategic oil reserves. It was never proven that he took kickbacks from them, but he died before it came to trial. He died in the arms of one of his mistresses while away from the White House. It came out that he had an illegitimate child from a former liaison that his wife had successfully covered up before he ran for POTUS. None of this was known in his lifetime. It all came out after his death.
It was probably best remembered for the Teapot Dome scandal.
