Wrong alternator or new alternator is bad. no resetting needed
It could be an alternator. Check with a mechanic if that is the issue.
Is the alternator actually working. It is possible to buy a new alternator that is defective.
If your alternator stops working you are powering the vehicle on your battery and your battery is not being charged by your faulty alternator so eventually as the battery drains down the car will stop running. Avoid using any electrical power...ie...lights, power windows ect and get your alternator repaired immediatley.
The same thing happened to my 1995 Tercel. I guessed that it was the Alternator. To test if it was, I disconnected the battery while the car was on, and it instantly turned off, which confirms that indeed the alternator is dead. My mechanic also confirmed it. I bought a new one for $95, and once the mechanic changed it, the lights turned off. The same thing happened to my 1995 Tercel. I guessed that it was the Alternator. Car batteries get re-charged by the alternator. If your battery recently went dead, "miles" is not what is measured to recharge the battery, "time" is used. I'd leave the car running for 15-30 minutes. Driving for this amount of time too is fine. If the battery goes dead again, probably a bad battery or bad alternator, or sometimes a bad alternator makes the battery go bad and they both need repaired. (typically a new alternator is $120 - $200)
No, as being a master mechanic, it would have nothing to do with it.
There is no such thing as resetting a battery. You can recharge it but not reset it.
Reset a battery? There is no such thing as resetting a battery.
Most likely, your starter isn't the problem. You may have a bad alternator. Usually when your battery doesn't recharge properly it's an issue with the alternator. Have a mechanic inspect the alternator if you're not comfortable doing it yourself. If it is an issue with the alternator, it's a pretty cheap fix.
your battery needs to be charged first with a car battery charger then start the car and see if the alt/battery light is on if it is on then you probably have alternator problems if the battery does not charge enough to start the car then get a new battery first a good indication of how the alternator is working is to check the voltage at the battery with the engine running if it is between 13.6v and 14.4v then it should be OK if it is below it then the alternator needs to be replaced or repaired if it is above then the same apply as too high a charge will damage your battery in the long run
It may be caused by faulty battery connections. Alternator failing, other electrical component "jammed on", - IN these case have a mechanic check the charge rate of the alternator firstly
I have a 99 Windstar and when my mechanic replaced the alternator the battery light would not go out he took back about 2 alternators, stating that the alternator was not good, because the battery light stayed on. Finally, he had the last one he put in tested and it was fine, but the battery light still came on. He called a Ford mechanic and they said you have to use a ford alternator, because the computer can not recognize other brands of alternators. Once he did the light went out. He said occasionally it will recognize an off brand, but when it doesn't the battery light stays on and it can cause problems with the computer, and I believe he said the cyliniod could burn out. He just bought a re-built alternator from the ford dealer for about $199.00
