How is the body form of a hydra limtied by its lack of a circulatory system?

The purpose of a circulatory system is to distribute nutrients and oxygen to every cell in the body. As hydras lack a circulatory system such distribution must be accomplished by diffusion along, which is a very slow process and inadequate for anything of any size. So the body form of a hydra is limited in size due to a lack of a circulatory system.

How does hydra reproduce sexually?

Asexual reproduction by budding. A piece of hydra grows from the main body and resembles a small, mature hydra. Then when large enough it buds off and forms a new hydra. When conditions are harsh sexual reproduction occurs. Sex organs, either sex, appear and gametes are released into the water free flowing to meet and form zygotes.

What are the differences in body structure between a hydra and a marine jelly?

The sensing functions include a nerve net, a network of nerve cells that surround the hydra's body. The nerve net enables the hydra to respond to stimuli and coordinate its movements.. Jellies have the medusa body form. Medusas move freely about in the water, transported by wind, water currents, and rhythmic contractions of the "umbrella." Some cnidarian life cycles include both a medusa stage and a polyp stage. Others exist only as medusas. Still others such as hydras and sea anemones exist only as polyps.

How do polyp and medusae in coelenterates alternate with each other?

Polyp is a asexual form which has a cylindrical body just like hydra whereas the medusa form is sexual form and has an umbrella shape. In case of Aurelia, the adult is sexual form. Males and females are separate and after copulation the female releases eggs which develop into a hydra like structure called ephyra larva which is called polyp form. This larva by budding produces umbrella shaped medusa forms. Thus the asexual polyp form alters with the sexual medusa form. This alternation of generations is called metagenesis.

What is the body plan of a hydra?

A Hydra is a mythological creature that has a simple shape. Try Google images. Hydras are said to be shaped much like a dinosaur body. They have four legs and a long stream lined tail, apparently used to help them swim. However, they are differential from Dinosaurs mainly because they have many heads. Most mythology states three separate heads, each with its own neck. Picture a Brontosaurus (the incredibly tall dinosaurs that are recognized by their long necks) but with separate necks attached to one body.See related link below for a picture of a hydra.THIS is the main answer the body form of a hydra is called polyp.
