inside the locking unit in the door is a plastic screw jack that breaks. it can be repaired easily if you can trace the part. easy fix Simon
Yes you can put an alarm on a car with no power locks, you can even buy central locking system that you can fit to a car with no power locking system that will connect up to the alarm system. Danny from Bee Mech Mobile Mechanics Find me at www.beemech.com.au
Turn on the ignition so that your dashboard lights come on but dont start the engine, press the locking button on the keyfob within 10 secs, locks will engage then release. Done.
If the central locking isn't working, there is a pull cord in the boot that will release the lock on the petrol flap.
You need the vehicle unlocked to open the fuel flap. The central locking also locks the fuel flap on this model.
In cars with central locking, or remote locking, a solenoid is fitted to the locking mechanism. When the remote button is pressed (usually on the key) a signal is sent to the central locking control system. The received signal closes an electronic gate in the controller and current from the cars battery is switched to the solenoid on the lock. The force generated locks or unlocks the door as required.
Check the fuse that controls central locks; replace if defective.
It doesnt have a switch. You just open it with your hand. It does have a lock which locks it with the central locking so it should unlock when you unlock the car.
