The dominant art was religious and located mainly in churches in the form of stain glass windows, sculpture, and some egg tempera on wood. The egg tempera do survive but looks green today because the egg has turned moldy. The art was very flat and with out dimension since perspective hadn't been developed yet. The churches themselves are the largest example of the visual art of the middle ages.
