The Sun's corona acts like a blanket. The blanket gets as hot as necessary to release the heat that is conveyed to it from the interior of the Sun. If it radiates too much heat, it cools down, and stops radiating as much.

Nothing. It IS burning up, but the sun is so immense (almost a million miles in diameter) that even though it has been burning for about five billion years already, it probably will take another 4-5 billion years for its hydrogen to be mostly fused into helium.

The Green House affect. It is the layer of gasses above the atmosphere that prevents the heat from leaving. This leads to Global Warming.
