President Washington appointed David Rittenhouse as the first director of the US Mint.
It was David Lean, who won the 1957 Best Director award for "The Bridge on the River Kwai." He won the Oscar again for "Lawrence of Arabia" (1962). The first director from the United Kingdom to win the award was Frank Lloyd (for 1933's "Cavalcade"), a native of Scotland.
Lawrie McMenemy was Director Of Football at Southampton between 1993-1997, but before that, David Dein was also charged with taking on the duties of Director Of Football during his reign as Chairman of Arsenal from 1983 onwards, although he was never officially noted as being a Director Of Football. So the first would be Lawrie McMenemy.
Dr pal was the first director
The US Mint wasn't authorized by a single person. Article 1, Section 8 of the US Constitution gave Congress the power to coin money for the new country. The Mint was formally established by the Coinage Act of 1792 and struck its first circulating coins, cents and half-cents, the next year. Robert Morris and Alexander Hamilton were instrumental in determining how the Mint should run and what its new coinage would be. President Washington appointed the renowned Philadelphia scientist David Rittenhouse as the first Director of the Mint.
Producer David Heyman liked the work he did for British television. He's also a BAFTA adward-winning director and has directed critically acclaimed productions and TV films. He wasn't a fan of the books when he was first chosen, but after he read them he "fell in love" with the characters and the story.
Sargent Shriver was the first director of the Peace Corps.
