The Harlem renaissance

In respect to the dynamic artistic, literary, and intellectual movement known as the Harlem Renaissance, occurring in America in the 1920s and 1930s, there were a number of significant consequences. Primarily, Africa-American talent, culture, experience, values, and perspectives (etc.) became more widely known and also respected throughout America and beyond. As importantly, Black Americans throughout the nation were inspired to create and, even more, to live with more pride and vitality -- and determination, particularly with regard to continuing the work necessary to overturn prejudiced attitudes and customs throughout American society.
Ensor Rothko is an abstract artist. Rothko was a large part of the movement of American painters and he eventually became known as an Abstract Expressionist.
Michael Craig-Martin became an artist because he fell in love with art at the age of 12. He is best known for his work An Oak Tree.
In 1919, Women in the United States gained the right to vote and were liberated from many previous restrictions of the past. Before the 1920s, women wore plain floor length dresses with tight corsets and had very long hair. A fashion revolution occurred in the 1920s. Women wore knee length dresses, bobbed their hair and pile themselves with accessories such as long pearl necklaces, gloves and headbands. Fur, sequins, fringe, diamonds and feathers were abundant in fashion. The glamorous fashion reflected the booming economy also known as "the roaring twenties". Drop waisted dress were common as were cloche hats and kitten heels. Fashion changed in the 1920s to accommodate the new lifestyles of people who now went out dancing every weekend. Fashion needed to be easy to move in but still look good.
