I'm not sure about a 1994 Prelude but if it were a 1992 Prelude this may be 2 separate problems, fuel guage issue may be the fuel guage sending unit, the temp guage may be a stuck open thermostat. Have the engine temp checked after driving at least 5 miles, does the gas guage ever move around even a little, if so it is the fuel gauge sending unit in the tank.

Yes and no you have to rebuild the gauges so they read 12 volt The volt meter wont work with an alternator it was designed for a generator The fuel gauge is different ohms if you stay with the 6 cylinder engine the oil and temp gauge will work but if not the temp gauge has to have a longer tube installed and the oil gauge has to have different fittings installed. on the upside though your speedometer should still work.

check the gauges, disconnect the sending unit wires and see if the gauges go up, if not it is the gauges, make sure the key is on

There is a cold start valve in the fuel system that could be bad. Or the temp. sending unit could be bad as well. Check your fuel filter first! where is the cold start valve,how does it work.
