You should be able to save your Word Perfect resume in MS Word format. Use the Save As and select MS Word. That way the Hiring Manager will be able to open the resume to read it.

Then, the manager will look them over and probably call you for an interview. At the interview they will ask you a bunch of question and then have you take a test. Then they will call in a few days if they want to hire you.

Make Your Resume Pass the 30 Second Rule?

A resume has about 30 seconds to catch the attention of the hiring manager or human resources professional who reviews it. This doesn't give you a lot of time to make a memorable impression, so you must craft your resume with care if you want it to pass the 30 second test.Think About the AudienceYour resume doesn't need to stay stagnant -- in fact, it's better if it is an ever changing document. Think about the company to which you are applying and cater the contents of your resume to fit accordingly. Highlight the parts of your experience and education that would be most useful for the job that you're applying for. You want the hiring manager to be greeted immediately with information that impresses her and makes her see you as useful to the company.Eliminate All ErrorsIf there are any spelling or blatant grammar errors on your resume, it's unlikely that you will make it the next round of consideration for a job. Check and double-check your resume, and then pass it off to a trusted friend or colleague to proofread for mistakes. Your resume should make you look competent, and errors will only place doubt in the mind of the hiring manager as to your attention to detail. Also check for factual errors, such as a reference's phone number that could be outdated or incorrect dates for one of your former jobs. When the hiring manager does a background check you don't want her to encounter mistakes.LayoutIf your resume is confusing or difficult to read based on the way it is laid out on the page, the manager won't be likely to hang on to it for more than 30 seconds. List your name and contact information at the top of the page, ideally in font that is larger than the rest of the page so it really jumps out. Divide different sections, like "Objective" and "Work Experience" with clear headings so it is easy to navigate to a particular part of your qualifications when necessary. Lay out the resume in a vertical format, and always list your past jobs or experiences in chronological order. Your newest experience should always be listed at the top of your resume; eliminate older items as they become less relevant -- you don't need filler on your resume.
