The Beaver Union School was designed by California architect William H. Weeks who was well known for his designs of public buildings. It is very typical of the Spanish revival style of many of his public buildings. He lived in Watsonville and a history of his work was written by Watsonville librarian Betty Lewis. Some of the more notable schools he designed include the Placer Union HIgh School in Auburn, The Union Grammar school is Campbell and the Napa High School.
The Beaver Union School was a racially integrated school (one of the first in the country). It closed sometime in the 1970s when the building was sold to a private party and boarded up and abandoned.
