Uniformitarianism
Geophysicists, GeologistsThe study of the Earth's surface is called geology, and people who study it are called geologists.A geophysicist studies the processes that change and shape the earth.
Uniformitarianism: a principle stating that earths processes occurring today are similar to those that occur in the past
'Magma' is melted rock occurring under the Earth's surface. When it comes up and flows out on the Earth's surface it is called 'lava'.
Many of the processes that changed the Earth in the past are the same processes that operate in the present.
The study of Earth's atmosphere is called meteorology. Geology is the study of the Earth, including Earth's surface and interior; geologists study the origin, history, and structure of Earth and the processes that shape it over time.

Theory of uniformitarianism.
all minerals are formed by natural processes.
processes which bring about changes on the surface of the earth are called external processes.
The point is called aphelion and occured on July 6th of 2010.

The main principle linked to the palaeoenvironment of the Earth (ie the Earths past) is called the principle of uniformitarianism: "The present is the key to the past" This means that all processes which occur on Earth at the present day, ie erosion, transportation, deposition, weathering, metamorphism etc. also occured at any point in the Earth's history in exactly the same way. Hope this helps :)
