The internal mics are always on. The external mic can be mono or stereo.
"Phantom Power" in use in the recording industry is ALWAYS 48V. Some types of mics use other types of power like T-power or an internal battery, but this is not "Phantom Power".
Can you mix condenser mics with directional mics using phantom power?
Yes, but you will also need overhead instrument mics for the cymbals.
If you're just trying to play sounds through your mics input, you need to enable wave out/stereo mix on your soundcard. If you can't find either wave out or stereo mix then your soundcard might not support them, sorry. Once that's enabled all audio you play will stream through your microphone.
No. You can use any mics in theory, but obviously dedicated drum mics are better. Check the web (How to record drums} and you'll find more advice and recommendations than you'll ever get through in a lifetime {grimtraveller}.
The mic is actually always seen clipped on the shirts with a wire attached. ***That does not answer the question. The mark supposedly does not know they are on TV so wearing a clip mic suggests it's all scripted, and the marks are acting. Hence my original question: if it's really a prank why are the marks wearing mics?
tha-ga-no-mics
Yes.

Most laptops have built in camcorders and mics. Unless you buy a really small laptop it is going to have these parts. The HP Pavilion dv2000 specifically has them.
Shure 585SB mics sell for about $10 alone to $25 with the original box and papers. That price is per mic.
