As the saying goes, "The Captain goes down with his ship"; E.J. remained on Titanic, like the honorable man he was. He was last seen, according to a variety of accounts, on the bridge, watching the disaster. In my own opinion, I do believe he was blaming himself for the tragedy that had unfolded.
