The name Islam as religion was giving lately but what was the previous name used instead of Islam Religion?

since the dawn of history of this religion , it has been named by this name " Islam". It's mentioned in the Holy Quran as Islam & the followers as Muslims many times.
so no the name is not recent.
Moreover , Muslims believe that the message of Islam is not only the message of Muhammad PBUH but also the message of all of the Messengers before Him.
All the messages sent by Allah to the mankind had carried the same conception which is "worshipping God, the one & only God". one example from the Holy Quran :
( And this was the legacy that Abraham left to his sons, and so did Jacob; "Oh my sons! Allah hath chosen the Faith for you; then die not except in the Faith of Islam." )
