they project to the primary visual cortex
the ophthalmologist used an optic to help check the patients eye

This is illogical question.hahah because as u know solar radiations are available everywhere and so we can generate energy from everywhere using solar radiations. This is the most cheap source of energy. It requires only one time cost and lasts for many years. In this process we use a solar panel which is made of silicon, the solar radiations fall on this panel and convert these radiations into electric d.c voltages and these d.c voltages convert into a.c voltages by using inverters.
Infra red radiations are invisible to our vision. Only red to violet are visible. But when the object emitting infra red radiations is in a dark place, then the object too cannot be seen.
If it is sun glasses than we use it to save our eyes from the radiations of sun.
The optic radiations, one on each side of the brain, carry information from the thalamic lateral geniculate nucleus to layer 4 of the visual cortex. (primary visual cortex)

Eye - Retina - Optic Nerves (CNII) - Optic radiations - Occipital Lobe
Eye - Retina - Optic Nerves (CNII) - Optic radiations - Occipital Lobe
They are fibres which radiate from thalamus and metathalamus to the cerebral cortex. They include:Anterior thalamic radiationsuperior thalamic (sensory) radiationposterior thalamic radiation, which consists of = optic + auditory radiations
From the receptors to bipolar cells, then to ganglionic cells still in the retina. These then project into the optic nerves (cranial nerve II). The optic nerves then partially cross over at the optic chiasm, before reaching the thalamus, where signal processing begins. From the thalamus the optic tract leads to the visual cortex in the occipital lobe, where visual sensation is generated.

The optic nerve is a cranial nerve (CN II) that sends special somatic afferent (sensory) fibers to the lateral geniculate of the thalamus. Here, they synapse and continue via optic radiations to the primary visual cortex of the brain. The motor portion of the eye is controlled by cranial nerves as well only they are: Oculomotor (CN III), Trochlear (CN IV), and Abducens (CN VI); there is also some sympathetic innervation (not from cranial nerves) that cause pupillary dialation.
Radiations within the range of 200 - 400nm are Visible Radiations. And others out of this range are invisible radiations.
Ozone layer protects us from harmful radiations. UV radiations are these rays.
They emit radiations because of their glow in the dark properties which is brought out by radium and tritium which are radioactive and clearly emit radiations.
