society of friends or Quakers. its an Anglican religion
Answer:
The settlers who arrived at Plymouth Colony in 1620 were English Separatists. While they considered themselves English Protestant (Anglican), they were opposed to some of the beliefs and practices, particularly the liturgy and ritual, that had accumulated within the Church of England.
At the time, there were two groups that objected to the beliefs and practices of the state church: one group, the Puritans, believed that the church could be reformed and "purified" of its corruption; the other, the Separatists, had given up on the idea of reforming the church and wished to separate themselves from it. The Pilgrims at Plymouth were members of the latter group.
The settlers who founded the Massachusetts Bay Colony, ten years later, were Puritans. They got along well with the Separatists at Plymouth, but anyone who was not Anglican was considered a heretic and a blasphemer. Specifically, Quakers, Lutherans, Baptists and Catholics were driven out, but frequently not before being whipped.
