I'm not sure of this helps but in 2007 Equatorial Guinea was the richest African country (it is one of the top 10 richest countries in the world). Seychelles was ranked second with Botswana ranking as third. I'm not sure that there has been much change to that in the last few years. Equitorial Guinea is definitely still the richest. Is this what you consider major?

Take for instance is Russia as Rich as the U.S or France or the U.K? yet it is considered as a major world country for other reasons.
Or are Sweden,Norway,Luxembourg, Or even countries like the U.A.E or Qatar not richer than Major world countries like U.K and China? yet not among the list of important countries.

Sholes- Sorry to answer you wrong! It was lack of clarity of the question that made me jump to the conclusion that you meant wealth.. Easy to do with so much emphasis on wealth and status in this day and age.. I do wonder why you consider them to be the most important as you didn't really embellish on why you think they are the most important. I'm happy to 'consider that' but can youplease explain why??
