Those who have reached it say it is indescribable, but some of the things that are said are: utter freedom, awareness and bliss, suffering completely extinguished. But, at that, I've probably said too much.
There are many biographies online of people who have realized their true nature. You see, it's not actually a goal and not something you achieve. All sentient beings have buddha nature, although they have obstacles to realizing it.

Buddhism is concerned only with freedom from the ego. Some schools such as the Mahayana are concerned with helping others achieve this before themselves but the ultimate goal is always freedom from illusory existence or Samsara. In this sense then Buddhism can be seen as a very sophisticated psychological practice but there many aspects or levels to the practice. They involve learning to see reality as it really is not as it appears to our ordinary, limited perception and/or perspective. This is what is meant by enlightenment. Living permanently in a state of communion with reality or the Divine, if you will. It can be seen as a psychological practice, albeit a very sophisticated one, but on a more advanced level communion with ultimate reality is, arguably, communion with the Divine or God. So whether Buddhism is a system of psychology, philosophy, religion a cosmology or some combination of all or some of these is the subject of a lively ongoing debate. What Buddhism actually "is", like everything, probably depends on an individuals philosophical perspective and experience.
