That's correct it's electronic.
Repair is a big word.as there are several components to the cluster. What symptoms does it display?
Try disconnecting the + battery cable for 5 minutes.
Start by removing the gauge cluster, unhook the speedometer cable from back of cluster. Pull speedo cable thru the firewall, follow it down to the transmission, and then unhook it. Install in reverse order of removal.
Well the power steering cable is right next to the throttle cable on the throttle body.
Probably throttle body clogge or cable
The 240sx does not use a speedometer cable. It is electronic. The VSS (vehicle speed sensor) is located on the transmission. It sends pulses.AnswerI removed my entire guage cluster and never saw a cable, it was all electronic. not sure if that's where the cable would be, but that's what i found, just three plugs coming out of the cluster.
There are two types of speed sensors and you can't tell until you look. One is electrical/magnetic (VSS) and one is a cable that goes directly into the instrument cluster. Here is my answer to How to replace the Speedometer Cable in a 1990 Toyota 4x4 Pickup 3.0 3VZE V6. To remove the cable you will need to unhook the e-brake assembly and seperate the speedometer cable from the e-brake at the firewall by the gas pedal. On end goes to rear of the instrument cluster and the other end attaches to a small gear at the rear of the transmission. The instrument cluster will need to be removed.
it Goes from the Gauge Cluster. throught the firewall and connects down in the top passanger side of the tranny
all alternators require battery power to operate.
I used WD-40 after pulling the cable out of the car. You can try just pulling the cable off of the transmission, pulling the gear off, then squirting the oil of your choice in the end. It is probably best to remove the cable from the gauge cluster inside the car. That is a lot of work so you may want to try from the trans first then if that doesn't fix it work from the gauge cluster end. It worked for me 6 years ago on my 1990 mustang lx 50 and no problems since.
Journal of Cluster Science was created in 1990.
Are you sure you have a cable in your car You may have a speed sensor therefor it's electric speed control look on top of the tranny towards the back right above the axle for your sensor
