No, it's brake fluid. The master cylinder is leaking out the back and running into the brake booster. The booster is half full and fluid is coming out and running down the rod that connects to the brake pedal The above answer is the most likely cause, but if you are certain that it is Power Steering fluid... here's a theory. Some vehicles do use a hydraulic power brake system that is powered off the power steering pump. It is possible that the system could be leaking near the location where the pedal plunger is located, thus allowing the fluid to leak inside the vehicle. Whichever is the cause, you should repair this very soon as it could lead to serious problems with the braking system, and could lead to brake failure. Good luck !
please be more specific is it leaking engine oil, coolant, transmission oil, brake fluid, or power steering fluid where is it leaking from ?
Where on the rack is it leaking? if it is a union (where the hydraulic pipes and the rack meet) then you may just need to tighten up the union, however if it is leaking from the steering rack gaitor then it isn't as quick as doing up a bolt. The only way to solve a leaking power steering rack, if it is leaking from anywhere other than a union, on the sharan (7M0) is to replace the rack, it is a fairly simple job that any practiced home mechanic with the correct tools can do. I hope this helps but if you have any other queries on this please contact me and I can answer in more detail for you.
not much on the passenger side dashboard to leak except your heater core, dont know why the fluid is black though.

Could you please be a little more specific on what information you are looking for? If you are looking for a power steering leak, go to your local pars store and purchase the dye that you can add to your power steering fluid, once you add this dye operate the vehicle according to the instructions on the package and then you will use a black light to be able to pin point where the leak is.
Please specify. Do you really want to remove the entire dashboard, or do you want to remove one or both of the two trim panels
