Obviously you will claim your 2 children as dependents. It also depends on the childrens ages. They have to have resided in your residence for more than 6 months out of the year. You will eventually receive a child tax credit for them. If one of the children attends daycare, or you pay after school or daycare for that child, if you have paid out enough, you may be able to obtain the Child Dependant Care Credit. Check into it!

Can my boyfriend claim me as a dependent living with him for 2 years?

If you did not work during the year and he paid for over half of the expenses if keeping up the home then yes, he can claim you as a dependent on his tax return. He cannot use you as a qualifying dependent for Earned Income Tax Credit though. Also, if you do not have health insurance he could be penalized for you not having insurance if you are a dependent on his return.

Can you claim your girlfriend who lives with you as a dependent on income tax who works and pays part of the bills?

Yes You can claim her as a dependent if you meet all of the following criteria: 1. She had less than $3,400 in gross income for the year. 2. She lived in your home the entire year. 3. You provided over half her support. 4. The relationship between the two of you does not violate local law.

Can you claim a live in girlfriend as a dependent if she doesn't claim herself?

Maybe. In order to claim her as a dependent, she will need to qualify under the Qualifying Relative rules. That means she has to meet all four of these criteria:1. Relationship Test: must be your child, sibling, step-sibling, grandchild, parent, step-parent, grandparent, niece, nephew, in-law, or a member of your household (lived with you the entire year).2. Gross Income Test: must have earned less than $3,650 of income for the year.3. Support Test: You must have provided more than half of their support for the year.4. Dependency Test: They cannot qualify as a dependent as a Qualifying Child for someone else.If she meets all four tests, then you can claim her as a dependent. Make sure that she does not also claim herself if she files a return, though.

Can I go back and change the return I already filed my tax return claiming my son as my dependent but I've decided to let his father claim him because my son resided with his father last year?

Generally, yes. Form 1040X is Amended U.S. Individual Income Tax Return. To change the number of exemptions (personal and dependent) claimed on your original return, you fill out lines 25 to 32 in Part I-Exemptions on page 2 of Form 1040X.There is a special situation for a Qualifying Child of more than one person. You both can have a tax benefit. The noncustodial parent can claim an exemption and the Child Tax Credit for the child. The custodial parent can claim the child as a Qualifying Child for (1) Head of Household filing status, (2) Credit for Child and Dependent Care expenses, and (3) Earned Income Credit.

How many dependents can you claim on a federal income tax return?

2 You can claim more than 2, it depends how many actual dependents you have living in the household. The term "dependent" means: * A qualifying child, or * A qualifying relative. You can claim an exemption for a qualifying child or qualifying relative only if these three tests are met. # Dependent taxpayer test. # Joint return test. # Citizen or resident test.
